Its all about personal preference. I'm in the same boat as you on deciding between these two fine firearms. I really like the HK USP .40, and my buddy has a Sig P229. I like the feel of his Sig better, and I can shoot it more accurately than the HK, but I just really like the way the HK looks. Both are awesome pistols, I just lean more towards the HK. I'll never compete with a pistol like that so the match-grade accuracy isn't quite as important to me in a pistol. At a range (10 yds) I was doing about 5" groups with the USP, and I could do 3" with the Sig. However, I had shot the Sig several times before and knew how to shoot it, and it was the first time I had shot the HK (it was a range gun anyway).

About $100. They are both top quality weapons.

About the same as Ford and Chevy.

Chvey and Ford is a good comparison, they are both major companies with quality products and a dedicated following

H&K is a German maker of high-quality firearms. Sig is Swiss and connected with Sauer, Austrian, and they make high-quality firearms, as well.

The difference between H&K and Sig is about $100. Be sure to leave my ten pts. on the way out.
