-Jan 26 2002 WHAT a great hand gun!! When this gun came out, I saw it and fell in love. Since 1989, I used a Beretta 92F for a carry/home defense gun. Was content with it, but wished there was a gun with more stopping power (aka .45) that had similar size as the 92F (aka dudes with medium sized hands). When I held the USP45, I thought I had the USP9 in my hands. It was that compact of a grip! The weight, layout and price was, as far as I was concerned, PERFECT. Buying it without firing a single shot, I got to the range and was able to control the USP45 confidently AND shoot BETTER groups than my 92F from 7-25 meters. Carry wise, it has the same comfort as the 92F with either a shoulder holster or paddle holster. Mags are a bit pricy, but willing to try aftermarket mags. What would I do differently? MAYBE consider the compact...ONLY for carry size. As for failures, stopages, etc...NADA! N Details..

-11/5/2001 I have a HK USP 40 full size, Var. 1. It's quite easy to handle, even compared with my 9mm (different brand). However the full size isn't really a good concealed carry choice, IMO. Just too darned big not to notice unless you're wearing a jacket or bulky clothes. If you want concealed, I'd say go with the Compact model.
Overall, an excellent weapon. Details..

-10/21/2001 bought my usp 45 a couple of years ago, and dont have a bad thing to say about it except it is too large to make a practical concealed carry weapon. have not had a single jam or feed problem, and i hav run everthing through it from corbon +p combat ammo to cheap shit lead ball reloads. a fine pistol, and very compatible for folks familliar with the 1911. am considering buying the compact version for my carry gun, but will probably not do it. the full size comes highly recommended if you just want to go to the range, or are preparing for the day when things get rough. definitely a handgun you can depend on.
