Like the original poster, I was comfortable with the full-sized .45 pistols, and tried out a USP-40 compact for concealed carry. Just like the original poster, I had extreme difficulty controlling the USP40C, and didn't have anything resembling a group... even when I scooted it to 12'. Ergonomically, the USP 40C is excellent, but controlling it is a challenge, between a light polymer frame and the powerful .40 round, it's a "expert's gun", and not something I was confident I could use well in a life-and-death situation.
